Discover the secret of the Maestrat Mining Park!
The Parc Miner del Maestrat is located 3 km from the town of Torre d'En Besora and 8 km from the town of Culla.
It is located in the Fontanella natural area, located at about 800 meters above sea level, where you can enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the Alt Maestrat region.
This is a privileged space to learn about the area's ancient underground mining industry, explore its galleries, and learn how the men who left this extraordinary legacy lived and worked.
The Parc Miner del Maestrat is a historical heritage site with great tourist and cultural appeal, an experience for the senses and an exciting adventure.
The Parc Miner del Maestrat complex covers an area of 6 hectares, where the entrances to the two mines open to the public are located, Mina Victoria and Mina Esperanza , and the remaining 4 closed to the public.
There is a tourist train, with two carriages and a capacity for 24 people, that transports visitors between the two mines, separated by approximately 600 meters. These mines comprise a network of six longitudinal galleries stretching over 4 km, composed primarily of iron ore, which was extracted from the 1940s to the early 1960s, for processing in the Sagunto Blast Furnaces and subsequent sale.
